A classic murder mystery set in the unusual surroundings of The Gyre -- that giant swirl of garbage in the mid-Pacific Ocean colonized by octopods, a race of eight armed aliens who have built a civilization out of plastic waste. There, amidst the empty water bottles and yogurt pots you will find a vibrant literary culture that includes Devilly Peen, writer of whodunnits and amateur sleuth. She, with a nod to Ms. Marple, employs her multiple brains and investigative tentacles to unmask villains, this to the eternal embarrassment of the police. In this third volume of The Gyre trilogy, ferocious squid trap Devilly and other guests in a remote seaside Inn. Meet a wealthy blue-ring octopus and his sinister sidekick as a body is found adrift in the flotsam. Tensions rise as the body count increases and corpses pile up on the counter of the lounge bar. This not too cozy mystery is unconventional with a touch of sci-fi and mild dystopia.
