Maura is an oceanographer who hoped to find life under the ice on Europa, the second moon of Jupiter. But she didn’t expect to encounter aliens with paranormal powers; nor that the neo-fascist colonists from Earth would try to destroy the indigenous life form. She teams up with a computer scientist called Geoff, a specialist in Artificial Intelligence. Together they strive to save the aliens from extermination – a mission which threatens to destroy their home planet, which is invaded by robots and threatened by new weapons of mass destruction. Ultimately Maura offers herself in a sacrifice which transforms her relationship with both her partner and her baby daughter. The Hesperian Dilemma is a SciFi adventure, a credible depiction of the future but also a story of hope and love.
