Mishalla is no longer an enslaved Genetically Engineered Non-human (GEN). A series of injections dissolved the circuitry in her body and erased the tattoo interface from her cheek. Now trueborns can’t program or punish her. Mishalla can pass as a lowborn girl.

She’s partnered with Eoghan, the lowborn boy she loves. But with Eoghan off on Kinship missions so often, she seldom sees him. And she doesn't seem to fit into lowborn society.

Then Mishalla is offered a Kinship mission herself. Disguised as a GEN, she's sent to find a traitor in the Kinship. But the low-risk mission turns to disaster with Mishalla responsible for far more lives than her own. Can she save herself, save the others, and reveal the traitor in time?
